Staff / Volunteers
Undergo a Megan’s Law background check and attend volunteer orientation when responsibilities include working with a child.
Non-enrolled Children / Youth
Non-enrolled children or youth are not allowed on school premises, except for school functions specifically designated for visitors. No part-time kindergarteners or other children should be left as a daycare arrangement.
Children of volunteers should be under the supervision of the parent and must provide evidence of medical insurance coverage. Children of employees are not permitted to be at school unless they are enrolled as students. Southern Union Education Code 2013-2015
Arrival / Dismissal Procedure
Classes begin promptly at 8:15AM, at which time students are expected to be in their places and ready to begin the school day. Students are not to arrive before 7:45AM. Upon arrival, each student reports directly to the Library. Parents must notify the Principal by 8AM if the student will be LATE or ABSENT from any class. A written note is required for all absences upon return to class. (See Attendance).
School is dismissed at 3:15PM Monday through Thursday, and on 1PM on Friday. Parents are urged to make every effort to pick up their children promptly at dismissal time. Please contact the Principal ahead of time if this is not possible.
Living Springs Academy currently does not offer an After-Care program. As long as on-duty staff are outdoors, students are allowed to wait for their ride by the picnic tables in front of the school building. NO BALL GAMES ARE ALLOWED DURING THIS TIME due to the proximity to the parking lot. After on-duty outdoor staff leave, the remaining students must wait for their ride inside the building with an accompanying staff person.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A PRE-AUTHORIZED DRIVER MUST ALWAYS SIGN STUDENTS OUT BEFORE BEING RELEASED INTO THEIR CUSTODY. THE SIGNER IMMEDIATELY ASSUMES ALL LIABILITY AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DELIVERING TO THE PARENT ANY WRITTEN MESSAGES ON THE SIGN-OUT CLIPBOARD AND MATERIAL DISTRIBUTED AT DISMISSAL.
